HERBERT ELLIS NORRIS
(born Mar-27-1859, died Mar-27-1931, 72 years old) United Kingdom

[what is this?]

Herbert Ellis Norris was born in 1859 in St. Ives. A jeweller and silversmith by trade, and a man of wide interests, he became best known as an amateur historian of the county of his birth, Huntingdonshire (now largely subsumed into Cambridgeshire), amassing a large collection of associated material. By 1891, he'd moved to Cirencester, Gloucestershire, and was a founding member and long-term president of the Cirencester Chess Club. His legacy continues in the shape of the Norris Museum: https://www.norrismuseum.org.uk/
