Carl August Eduard (Edward ) Feldner, born in the kingdom of Saxony in 1817.

Prof. Edward Feldner was educated in the University of Dresden and taught in several of the leading schools of this country. He came to American in 1848 and settled in Hoboken, where he founded an academy. The succeeding year he published a German-English grammar, and has since been the author of several popular standard textbooks in German-Schools. He came to Detroit in 1862, when he took charge of the Seminary, in the management of which he spent the rest of his days. He was highly esteemed by a large circle of personal friends, and was widely known as teacher of experience and ability. He died on Sunday, August 30, 1874, after an extended illness.(1)
