Nov-10-21  Alan McGowan: David Hamburger was born 9 June 1906 at Eppstein, near Wiesbaden, Germany.

He immigrated to the USA in November 1949 with his wife and family, his intended destination being Tampa, Florida.

References can be found to his chess activities in Florida, Pennsylvania and New York. (Chess Life, November 1950 refers to his win against Herman Steiner at the U.S. Open that year.)

He died 17 November 1996 in Florida.

  MissScarlett: The <Jurgschhat - Hamburger> game was submitted twice, and both made it through because the scores are different. Which of <12.Bb1> and <12.Bc2> is correct?
Nov-11-21  andrewjsacks: In California, had he traveled there, he might have played Tom Fries, setting up a classic meal match-up.
Nov-25-21  Alan McGowan: I have checked my source again (Horizont 5/1948) and 12.Bc2 is given. I have no other against which to compare the score.
