ADOLPH MOEHLE

Adolph Mohle (Moehle, Möhle). Born in Brunswick (Germany). Listed as 50 years of age at the time of the 1880 census and being in the assay business. He acted as Zukertort's umpire and second during the New York portion of Steinitz - Zukertort World Championship Match (1886).

His eldest son, Charles Moehle, was also a strong player who operated one of the touring Ajeeb automatons of the 1880s, most famously at the Cincinnati Centennial of 1888.
