Stonehenge: Most articles on him have either <Clark> or <J Clark>.

<J R Clark> comes from The Westminster Papers, Vol. X 1878, p. 161 and 201.

E Freeborough vs J Clark, 1878 (kibitz #29)

J. R. Clarke (with an e) of Hull was the secretary of the Yorkshire Chess Association

see his letter in Chess Player's Chronicle, Volume 8 p.148

He was also the opponent of Harrwitz in Harrwitz vs J Waltham / J Clarke, 1849

Hull Packet - Friday 26 October 1849 p.5

He is possibly John Richard Clarke who was Librarian of the Hull Subscription Library although censuses have his name as Clark without an e, despite local newspapers e.g. Hull Packet - Friday 06 March 1874 p.8 spelling it 'Clarke'. A mystery.
