  Tabanus: Yikes.
Mar-11-24  MFH: Are all these Popov the same? Dr. Georgi Alexandrov Popov of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICCF_...? None of them is GM Ivan Popov?
Mar-12-24  MFH: Which Popov is this? Identical with one among Georgi Popov (G.P., *1941) or Georgi Alexandrov Popov (GMC G.A.P., *1934) after whom the P.attack in Ruy Lopez is named? certainly not Ivan Popov (GM I.P., *1990)
Mar-12-24  MFH: maybe Petar Popov (*1939; first games from 1950)

This? As in just one player?

Look at the spread in years and locations (and level of play most likely). It, and common name, suggest that several players are involved.

It's very common for <CG> to have this kind of player soups. Usually you're lucky to untangle them one game at a time.

Mar-12-24  MFH: OK.(That was my first reaction: are all these the same?) The spread in years ('76-'93) doesn't exclude it's the same player, and to have 2 or 3 outside the player's main location isn't exceptional for a pro player... But yes, I guess this has to be untangled. Whom should I contact if I find out some facts?
Mar-12-24  MFH: It's quite messy. chessBase has at least 7 Georgi Popov and they say the one born in 2002 would be G.Alexandrov P. and have played a match in 1991: https://players.chessbase.com/en/pl...

Definitely post over at the Biographer Bistro, which is generally just called the <Bistro>.
