JULIUS SCHLESINGER
(born Jan-13-1828, died Aug-17-1897, 69 years old)

[what is this?]

"Julius Schlesinger, son of the merchant Bernard Schlesinger and his wife Rosalie, née Rother, was born on January 13, 1828 in Zülz O/S. In the same year his parents moved to Breslau, where the father had a wholesale business in raw hides and tanned leather. [...] At the request of his parents, he had to give up his inclination to study in order to enter his father's business at the age of 17. [...] - In the few hours of leisure that his professional activity left him, he worked tirelessly on his further scientific education; he particularly enjoyed studying modern languages, history and economics. — As a young man he already achieved great mastery in chess and is known far beyond the borders of his native town, especially as a blindfold player. [...] He died on August 17, 1897 from a heart disease that had gradually developed in recent years."(1)
