Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-12-23  Alan McGowan: It is a pity that the Deutsche Schachblätter 1939 (pp188-9), reporting on the Berlin Championship, gave only one game by the tournament winner, a loss.

Although Berlin's leading players (Richter, Rellstab, Sämisch) did not take part, it is worth recording the tournament results:

Mölbitz 10, Mross 9½, Dahl 9, Kunerth 8½, Palme 8, Horn and Wächter 7, Lehmann 6, Nowarra and Teschner 5, Wolf 4½, Pinkall and Fröhlich 4, Brandes 3½.

Franz Ferdinand Mölbitz was born 21 July 1914 in Berlin.

He died 5 November 1942 in Mosdok, in 'Armee Feldlazarett mot. 673.' (death record).

His home address was Kleinbeerenstrasse 20, Berlin-Kreuzberg.

The Schachclub Kreuzberg history pages show that Mölbitz was club champion 1936/37, 1937/38 and 1938/39.
