MissScarlett: <From the BCM 1929, p 471: Scottish chess suffered a sad loss when, on October 18th, H.L. Forbes died at Scone, aged 62.> https://www.chessscotland.com/docum...

The Scottish National Probate Index gives the DOD as October 17th. That finds support in a death notice in the <Scotsman> of October 18th, p.18, which also gives his age as 61.

Feb-08-25  hilfsmatt: Ancestry.com has DOB July 30th, 1868 from his school register and birth certificate

MissScarlett: I see the school register, not the birth certificate.
Feb-09-25  Alan McGowan: His birth registration was Harry, his death Henry (Scottish national records).

Born Belhelvie, Aberdeenshire, died Scone, Perth and Kinross.
