<On the 7th inst., at his residence, 25, Kensington Park-gardens, of acute inflammation of the lungs, Francis Mercier, Esq., F.A.S, F.G.S., of the Stock Exchange, and late of Lordship Lodge, Tottenham, formerly of the H.E.I.C.S., in the 59th year of his age.>

The <ILN> of August 11th 1855, reported the auction sale of Mercier's chess library.
