Apr-16-23  DataFly: Mary Henniker-Heaton and Monica Rita Henniker-Heaton (1912-1986) were not blood relations but they doubtless knew each other.

Monica was born Monica Rita Watney and married Michael Henniker-Heaton, the first cousin of Mary, in 1937.

The paternal grandfather of Mary and Michael was John Henniker Heaton (1848-1914) and his Wikipedia article contains the line "Chess was his favourite recreation". Perhaps he passed his love of chess to some of his children and they to theirs.

The wife of John Henniker Heaton, Rose Bennett, was apparently the inspiration for the poem "Rose Lorraine": https://allpoetry.com/Rose-Lorraine

Apr-16-23  DataFly: I've just noticed a comment on John Saunders' britbase site: https://www.saund.co.uk/britbase/pg...

"Note that some years ago Mary Henniker-Heaton's forename was given on BritBase as "Monica" in error. The error was identified and eradicated here in 2017. I'm not sure who or what was the source of this error—it may have been me—but, to be clear, there is or was no such chess person as Monica Henniker-Heaton despite what you may read elsewhere on the internet."

So although there was such a person as Monica Henniker-Heaton (born Monica Watney), it seems that any games attributed to her are actually those of Mary Henniker-Heaton.
