French Champion 1990, 1991 and 1994. According to Chessmetrics, at his peak in October 1991 Santo-Roman's play was equivalent to a rating of 2557, and he was ranked number 317 in the world. His best single performance was at FRA-ch Angers, 1990, where he scored 11 of 14 possible points (79 %) against 2462-rated opposition, for a performance rating of 2644
