LoveThatJoker: I wish this gem was available here on CG. I submitted it just now, and look forward to its inclusion.

37. Ke3 Kb2? (37...Nd5+ leads to a win) 38. Kd2!! Kxa1 39. Kc2!, as annotated by Leonid Verkhovsky in "Draw! The Art of the Half-Point in Chess".

Jan-02-23  Gregor Samsa Mendel: <LTJ>--I visited Argentina in 1984-85. I purchased what is apparently a translation of an older edition of this book, from 1973, in glorious Spanish Descriptive Notation. Alas, it does not have this beautiful game.

LoveThatJoker: <Gregor Samsa Mendel> Excellently spotted! The edition of this book that I have is the 2014 Russell Enterprises release. I, like you, purchased it while traveling...Paris.

Thankfully, this edition is an author-sanctioned one - you can tell by the introduction being under Verkhovsky's very own name and dated to September 2014.

So far, I am really enjoying the book!

One last thing I would like to mention is that Vishy Anand signed the Forward for me when I met him at an important FIDE tournament. I had no other book on hand for him to sign, so I asked him to sign just under Mikhail Tal's name - apropos in the World Champion sense!
