Apr-30-08  whiteshark: IM Keller ?
Apr-30-08  Calli: You are? Make up your mind! :->

I have Adolf Keller playing in the Barmen B. CG has H Keller in the Barmen "D" which I don't think there was one.

May-01-08  whiteshark: <Calli> A pun as <im Keller> means <in the dumps>.

In this photopgraph <Ad. Keller> is no.70 http://www.rogerpaige.me.uk/histori...

Barmen 1905 were beneath other minor tournaments (local/youth etc) at least 2 Master and 3 Main tounaments: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barmer...

More confusing however is the second photograph in Edward Winter article "Chess and Women" http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/...

where <<Frau> Ad. Keller of Elberfeld> as Caïssa is shown in the Barmen ournament book.

to be continued...

May-01-08  Calli: <im Keller> heh, didn't get it. Read it as "I am Keller".

Gaige has only Adolf Keller, died Feb 1930. Kein Geburtstag. From the crosstables, Adolf played in the Barmen B. His fourth place in section 3 qualified him for the next phase, There he finished tied for 8-10th place. It was in this section that this game against Tartakower was probably played.

I don't see any other Keller in the B, the C or in the Nebenturnier.

May-01-08  Calli: This is also a game by Adolf Keller played in the B Hauptturnier

H Keller vs G Schories, 1905

He played and lost to Schories twice, so I can't tell in which section that game was played.

May-02-08  whiteshark: <Calli> Time for some correction posts to chessgames.com! :D

"Finally, we mention that two musical scores (‘Schach-Marsch’ by F. Kerkhoff and ‘Schach-Walzer’ by C. Noack) took up 11 pages of the Barmen, 1905 tournament book. They were performed in Barmen on 16 August 1905, i.e. during a presentation of Richard Genée’s Der Seekadett. This operetta, which gave its name to the ‘Sea Cadet Mate’, began with a Prologue recited by <Frau Adolf Keller> attired as Caissa: http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/... May-02-08  Calli: Also see two games played in the Hauptturnier for Frankfurt 1887. "A Keller" but must be the same as his home given as Elberfeld.

Herr Keller, trinken Sie Bier im Rats-Keller??

May-02-08  whiteshark: <Calli> It is highly probable!

Here is the last game I found:
