Tabanus: "G R Evans" who won the 1956 BCF First-Class Tournament was Gordon R Evans, as seen from Lancashire Evening Post, 1 Sept. 1956:

<Winner of the first class tournament was Mr. Gordon Evans, aged 21, of Llverpopl-road North, Maghull. A student, he has been playing chess for seven years.>

Probably also same as Gordon R Evans (also "Dr. Gordon Evans") the CC player, cf. https://www.iccf.com/player?id=211510
