BishopBerkeley: Well, Fute came in dead-last in the 2005 World Computer Chess Championship, yet it was the ONLY participant not to lose to Zappa (Computer) , and that's in a field that included the two dominant computer Chess programs of the last decade, Shredder (Computer) and Junior (Computer) , as well as the very strong newcomer Fruit (Computer) , and the old stalwart Crafty (Computer) !

Fute lost every single game it played in the contest EXCEPT the single draw against Zappa -- and Zappa WON every single game it played except the draw with Fute!

Curious, curious, curious indeed!

Nov-28-05  THE pawn: You see <BB> That's why I think humans can still be stronger than computers ( for instance...ahem...Hydra). The strongest ( zappa) who won against the whole crew, was only able to draw against fute, a lesser program. That means computers still can't perfectly understand each and every need of a certain position. In that case, there is again room for improvement, I believe and that leaves a hole right now for super GMs.
