HLecter: Ne4. clever

   Jul-24-07 J Polgar vs Carlsen, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: if Magnus takes the bishop, i guess the only thing that makes it worth going for the full point for white, is the fact that the remaining bishops will be of the same colour.

Jun-22-07 Van Wely vs Jakovenko, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: yes. stunning. I think Van Wely, after loosing the first two, has been slightly underestimated by his two recent opponents. Hes very dangerous when underestimated. This game is magnificent i think.

   Jun-18-07 S Atalik vs P Nikolic, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: Astardis: What's wrong with 27. ...hxg6? I looses a pawn (and the game really) to 28. Qh6+ Kg8 29. Qxg6+ Kh8 30. Qxe6

   Jun-18-07 N Marache vs Morphy, 1857 (replies)

HLecter: Isnt 46. ... Kf5 a bad move? I would play Kf4, a move that seem to better protect the pawn heading for g1. To me this seems so obvious that i really look for some hidden meaning behind Kf5. Cant say Ive succeeded yet....

   May-24-07 D Gurevich vs Nakamura, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: is gurevich`s rating correct?

   May-24-07 B Alterman vs R Lev, 1994 (replies)

HLecter: what about Rf3 aiming for Rh3? that was my first thought. 28. b3(!) is lovely, but it doesnt look neccesary to win. i prefer white also after 28. Rf1 Qxf1, but hey, with b3 it wins right away

   May-11-07 A Moiseenko vs F Amonatov, 2007

HLecter: whats the point of 56. ... Kh2? Allthough this is lost, i guess h2 would be better, forcing b5. (Not that it really matters....)

   May-11-07 Shirov vs K Asrian, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: only reason i can see for Nxe4 must be the fact that this move is far more forcing, and will give Shirov an easily won endgame with less complications. This move forces the knights off the table, and decreases the probability for blunders.

   Apr-25-07 Krasenkow vs K Lie, 2007 (replies)

HLecter: yea. but c2 was no way to stop it (as the game shows). Im pretty sure analysis will show that Rxf2 at least was relatively better.
