Sep-26-24 I Abonyi vs Hromadka, 1908
|
olinart: I cannot find a black win after 9...Nf3+ 10. gxf3 Bxf3
11. h3
for example ..Nxe4 12. Nxe4 Qh4 13. Ng3+ Kf8
seems to hold, as do lines after Ng4 as long as the h3 pawn stays put.
..Ng2 12. Ne2 Qh4 13. Ndf4 |

Aug-26-24 D Rogozenco vs I Sofronie, 2002
|
olinart: Thanks Samvega. I tried SF to analyze Bf2, and indeed Bxh5 is the counter. Black is up the exchange but the play moves to queenside and gives white some pawns and the exchange. I guess blacks pawns are just too weak. |

May-07-24 J Polgar vs Yudasin, 1990
|
olinart: Mostly forced
Rxb2+ 25. Kxb2 Qc3+ 26. Kb1 Nd3 27. Re2 Qc1+ 28. Rxc1#
27. Qxc8 however wins for white. too bad |

Feb-04-23 V Dobrov vs V Shinkevich, 2000
|
olinart: My line was to exchange Q before advancing the pawn
30. Qxb8 Raxb8 31. e7 Rfe8 32. Bxf6 Kf7
33. Be5 Rbc8 34. Bxf4 Ne5
I think all the continuations win significant material due to the strength of the e7 pawn, eg
35. Bd6 Nxe7 36. Rexe7+ Rxe7 37. Rxe7+ |

Sep-14-22 E Paehtz vs Vitiugov, 2017
|
olinart: I think 28...Bxe3 29. Rd8+ Ke7 30. Rxh8 Qe4 31. Bxg3 hxg3 32. Qf1
also wins for black |

Jun-29-22 D Byrne vs G Kramer, 1954
|
olinart: <TheN>
Better than RxQ after Qe7
33...Qe7 34. Bxh5
..Qxg7 35. Qe8# or
..Rxh5 35.Rf8# |
|
|
|
Dec-04-21 Dominguez Perez vs D Andreikin, 2011
|
olinart: I thought that White missed equalizing with
33. Qe8+ Qxe8
34. Rxe8+ Kh7
35. Ne4
However Black has
..Nxe4
36. fxe4 hxg2+
37. Kxg2 Bc6
which picks up the K pawn and a pretty clear win. |

Oct-07-21 Blackburne vs J Schwarz, 1881
|
olinart: Zooter I think you've given up too fast on your line: Rxf4 Bxf4 27. Qc2
..Kf8 28. Rxh5 gxh5 29. Qh7
or
..Bh6 28. Qxg6+ Kf8 29. Qxh6+ Kg8 30. Qg7#
or
..Kh7 28. Rxh5+ Bh6 29. Qd2
so exploiting the pin and the B on f6 is enough without the Q sac. |

Sep-19-21 Shabalov vs K Arkell, 1991
|
olinart: I meant 18.c4 Qxc4 19. Rac1 Qf4 of course. The knight pin and ability to get the black Q in play for both attack and defense should equalize. |

Aug-21-21 V Kovacevic vs H Ree, 1980
|
olinart: My try was Bxh7+ Kxh7 12. Qc2+ g6 >(>forced) 13. h5 Kg7 14. hxg6 fxg6 15. Bh6+ Kf7 16. Bxf8 Qxf8 17. Rh7+ Ke8 18. Qxg6+ Kd8 I think black holds 14. h6 easily, but white has an advantage in this line. |
