Jan-31-09 Hort vs A Rodriguez Cespedes, 1987 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: An absolute lesson in positional dominance, white exchanges queens into a won ending because he owns the black dark squared bishop. Very instructive and very elegant.

   Dec-20-08 Seirawan vs A Kuligowski, 1983 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Got the Re1 but missed that fxg starts a mating attack as I had black playing Qd7 immediately. I really like the mate in Al Wazirs lne, the g7# is awesome

   Nov-27-08 S Sanchez Lopez vs Topalov, 2005

AlfieNoakes: Funnily enough, when I think of Topalov's play I always envisage some sort of complcated position with lots of pieces still on the board and some isolated pawn advancing deep into enemy territory, just like here. Instructive game for how to handle b3 in the Benko Fully Declined

   Nov-22-08 Fischer vs A Sandrin, 1964 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Just what I was thinking, this was a Simul! and he played beautifully.

Nov-14-08 Van Wely vs K Georgiev, 1997 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Yay! Got this, and pretty quickly too :)

   Nov-12-08 K Georgiev vs Shirov, 1992 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Yay! I got that one, and dead quickly too. Nice interference move with Bg6 leading to the collapse of the black position.

   Nov-02-08 Short vs A Sendur, 1977 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Watching white play 23 Qcg6 would be one of those heart-sink moments!

Nov-02-08 Korchnoi vs Karpov, 1978 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Playing through this game from the black side was extremely uncomfortable, I couldn't convince myself that black had any compensation for what looked like a terrible position, I'm amazed he won in the end.

   Oct-30-08 Carlsen vs Y Hou, 2008 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: Black resigns in view of the forced mate in 659 moves...

Oct-28-08 Fetzer vs Schmidt, 1951 (replies)

AlfieNoakes: I played this exact game in online blitz recently without having seen it before, deja vu!
