Apr-10-21 Saint-Amant vs Staunton, 1843

Amed1: 29.g6? I think that Staunton didn't want to capture the g-pawn due to the double attack on f6 after 30.c3, however 30 ... Rg8 31.Qxf6 Qxf6 32.Rxf6 Rxg3 + 33.Kxg3 and it would result in an even position. |

Amed1: Interesting game. In the middlegame Black has an advantage but he threw it with 36 ... Qe5 ?? In the end, Black had the opportunity to close the game with 67 ... c3 !!, taking advantage of the fact that the king was close to the white pawns. |

Amed1: Great start by Howard Staunton. 30...Qxd1 seems unnecessary to me, I think it was better to continue with Kg7 and place the rook on the H column to exert more pressure. The error that cost Saint Amant the game was 51.Kg7??, until that moment the game was a draw. |

Amed1: 19.Rf4 secure the advantage, 25.Qxf6 ?? a huge mistake. Qg1 I found it interesting trying to change queens to reduce Black's attack and be able to play the ending with an extra piece. |
