Feb-15-10 Fridman vs Lenderman, 2010
Aristarchos: The game was lost in a 9-move mate after 40. Rd7? Would have been a nice Friday puzzle after the 40th move of Fridman. |

Dec-23-09 Miles vs M Nedobora, 1994
Aristarchos: I agree entirely with Once's assessment of the mysterious Nedobora! The question is could he have improved on his 40th move. In my opinion, 40. ... Ra1 would have brought Tony Miles into trouble but this move is hard to see, particularly in view of the apparently good move ... |

Oct-15-09 E Berg vs Leko, 1995
Aristarchos: I do not think that this is a medium level puzzle even though I saw the key move relatively quickly. It is more like a Saturday or Sunday puzzle, as also documented by the many responses of people who, like me, could not find the solution. Is there a new person in charge of the ... |

Sep-05-09 Serper vs R Djurhuus, 1991
Aristarchos: Could someone please tell me why Djurhuus resigned? |

Aug-12-09 Schlechter vs P Meitner, 1898
Aristarchos: Philipp Meitner himself was a lawyer and an outstanding chess master - very imaginative, just look at his famous "immortal draw" of 1872, his draw against Anderssen, or his win against Chigorin. |

Apr-30-09 Z Kozul vs Bologan, 2005
Aristarchos: I was approaching this puzzle exactly like <al wazir>, and also solved it in precisely the same manner! |

Mar-11-09 Tartakower vs M Billecard, 1907
Aristarchos: I agree: this was a lot easier than yesterday's puzzle. Like swarmoflocusts, I saw the solution Qd8 followed by Be7 instantaneously whereas yesterday's puzzle was more like a Wednesday puzzle. |

Jan-21-09 Kaidanov vs Anand, 1987
Aristarchos: malti, I also thought that 24. ... g6 would have saved the game for Vishy. However, in your variation 27. ... Qxg6 28. Qxg6 fxg6 29. Rh8+, Vishy would have played 29. ... Ke7 (rather than Kf7?) 30. Rh7+ Kd6, and is two pieces up to win easily. |

Aug-11-08 I Kan vs A Bannik, 1952
Aristarchos: <dzechiel> I missed today's position. You can't believe the number of complex wins I found. Knowing that there was something simple in the position that I was overlooking was very frustrating.
If it is of any consolation to you, I had the same experience even though I ... |

Jul-27-08 Kotronias vs N Davies, 1994
Aristarchos: What if Davies played 38. ... Nb7!? This sacrifice of the bishop might just help the king to escape to the queen side. At least, I could not see a forced mate for Kotronias. If this is correct, the ISPUB deserves its name! |
