Hi, I am a Dutchman living in Glasgow (Scotland). Last year I was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder, a mental illness characterised by extreme mood swings. After having spent 2 months in a psychiatric hospital after acute psychosis, one of the things I did was to become member of a local chess club, both to relieve some of the stress that had led to the psychosis and to to meet new people. Chess kind of suits my illness, considering the "black-vs-white" aspect of it. I like ChessGames.com a lot because of the lively discussions in the kibitzer sections.

BipolarFanatic: Computer evaluations on the tournament website show that the opening itself was not the problem, at least nothing wrong with 11. ... Rc8. For the first time at move 23 black makes a move that is not in Houdini's top-3 moves.

BipolarFanatic: According to Crafty, white could have reached a draw by repetition with 17.Rhe1 Qc7 18.Rxe5 fxe5 19.Nxe6 fxe6 20.Qh4+ Kf7 21.Rf1+ Kg8 22.Qg4+ Kh7 23.Qd3+ e4 24.Bxe4+ Bxe4 25.Qxe4+ Kg7 26.Qg4+ Kh7 27.Qe4+ etc.

BipolarFanatic: <Domdaniel: Why doesn't the nice lady just give the sweet old man his draw?> Perhaps because the old man isn't so sweet after all.

   Mar-25-11 H Mas vs L Pantsulaia, 2008

BipolarFanatic: No, white is lost.

BipolarFanatic: Good for Jan to get a result after 4 consecutive losses.

BipolarFanatic: No, you're not crazy. In fact, white has a much better position. Did he lose on time perhaps?

   Nov-02-09 D Pikula vs C Lupulescu, 2009

BipolarFanatic: Why 0-1 ???
