BishopsPawn: Hello, all. Has anyone tried to use chessgames.com on an Android mobile device? I can browse the pages, just without the games themselves loading. Apparently, Java isn't supported by the Android operating system. Is that right? Any way around that? Thanks in advance! |

Apr-27-11 Anand vs Lautier, 1997
|
BishopsPawn: 12...Bg2 seems like a fool's errand. Is there a better alternative for Black here? |

Apr-26-11 Barcza vs L Prins, 1952
|
BishopsPawn: For the benefit of the patzers among us, is there no way to consolidate the position and save the e-pawn in lieu of 24. Nc6? Also, why is 39. h5 necessary? Thanks in advance! |

Apr-13-11 Spassky vs Averkin, 1973
|
BishopsPawn: No, it wasn't a Tuesday puzzle at move 30. From the comments, it appears to have run on May 22, 2004, which was a Saturday. |

Mar-16-11 Vocaturo vs T Hillarp Persson, 2009
|
BishopsPawn: Of White's first 10 moves, 8 of them are pawn moves, and 9.Bd2 was forced! With a glance at the position after move 9, I would instantly assume black has a huge lead in development having dispatched all his minor pieces and his Q and can castle as he chooses. White, on the other |

BishopsPawn: I think you could almost get an entire week's worth of puzzles out of this one! What fun! |

Feb-17-11 G Zaichik vs E Formanek, 2004
|
BishopsPawn: I tried to solve the puzzle from 24. White to Move. No way I could have seen that combination! From 26., I might have had a chance. I second the puzzle vote, but make it a Sunday from 24. or a Friday from 26. |

Feb-17-11 K Mekhitarian vs Ding Liren, 2011
|
BishopsPawn: <JohnBoy>, I'm not a good chess player, but what more could you want than a win with the black pieces? I doubt that Mekhitarian felt like he was in a Meg Ryan movie! |

Feb-17-11 A Krebs vs O Lendi, 1943
|
BishopsPawn: <Everett>, I think <outplayer> is right. After 9...gxh5 10. Nxd6 Bxd6, the best White can get is a draw: 11. Bxf7+ Ke7 [if Kf8, 12. Bh6+ Ke7] 12. Bg5+ Kf8
If White declines the draw by repetition with checks by the dark square bishop and instead wins back his queen, |
