Sep-27-10 A Burns vs Blackburne, 1885

CarlG: What makes the whole sequence better is 34...Rxe4. This whole sequence of pseudo sac combinations really gained a mere pawn. Hats off to Blackburne. |

Sep-23-10 B Wexler vs J Saadi, 1960
|
CarlG: <dzechiel:
26...Bxf6 27 Nxf6
Material is back to even and white threatens 28 Nh5+ Kg8 29 Re8+. I don't know if black can try to keep the extra piece with
27...Kxf6 28 Qg5+ Kg7 29 Re7+>
Same line that I spotted
For the game line, there are some very nice mates if black ... |

Jul-27-10 P Goluch vs N Paikidze, 2010
|
CarlG: <beenthere240> 22. Nxg5 Rxh2 23. Kxh2 Nf3 double check 24. Kh1 Qh2# if white doesn't take the rook and instead plays 23. Qg3 white doesn't look too bad, imo. Black must decide between saving his rook or taking the Bd5. |

Jun-24-10 J Pinter vs Ribli, 1975
|
CarlG: The hardest part was finding the draw rather than the win. However, several things in the game surprised me, for example 15...Bd6 rather than xd5, 21.Rxf6, 26..Be6 rather than xf6. There are a few more too, but I forget, can anyone help this poor patzer? |
