Jun-14-12 Morozevich vs Nakamura, 2012 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Rxd5 is a blunder. Moro is too weak on b1 and b2 and will get mated quickly if he trades the rook for the Knight.

Jan-30-11 Aronian vs Smeets, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Rb2 seems ok to hold the draw as well; needs to play Ra2 and I don't see how the a-pawn advances since the Rook needs to guard the Bishop and the Bishop needs to guard the pawn. Black gets Nd5 in to help out. Hold on Smeets (for Naka's sake)!

   Jan-30-11 H Wang vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Agree with Ulhumbrus - a timely f4 advance could improve White's prospects, but still an even game. (P.S. in my post below Qa5 should have been Qa4).

Jan-29-11 Nakamura vs Kramnik, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Draw in the offing . . . .

Jan-28-11 Nepomniachtchi vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: chernousov, I don't see the big deal about 28 Bf4. What's the plan? All I see is 28 ♗f4 ♗g6 29 ♖c3 e5, how is that a draw?

Jan-26-11 Anand vs Shirov, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Kramnik and Aronian drew, so Anand needs a win here to keep pace with Naka. Kramnik faces the toughest schedule after tomorrow's rest day, playing Carlsen and then Naka back-to-back. Aronian may have the easiest schedule of this gang of 4, facing Pono, L'Ami and Smeets, ...

Jan-25-11 Nakamura vs Anand, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: I think we'll now see mass liquidation into a rook and pawns endgame, which should be a draw with correct play, although I'm sure I'd flub it royally!

Jan-23-11 Carlsen vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Qe5 is forced and after the trades on e5, Qe6+ picks up the rook

   May-28-10 E Post vs A Nimzowitsch, 1905 (replies)

DavidatHunter: Agree with everyone else - a snap for a Friday - although the fact that stalemate is this week's theme made it that much simpler.

   May-26-10 J Pribyl vs A Ornstein, 1977 (replies)

DavidatHunter: I got it quickly, but only because stalemate appears to be this week's theme, otherwise I would have been looking for some sort of (illusory) mating combo. Doubtful I would have ever seen this in a real game!
