Dirk Diggler: I live in the city too--did you see that guy in the purple tuxedo and sandals out by the library on 42nd? He was standing right by that lady asking for donations because her bunny needed brain surgery. I made a contribution.

Dirk Diggler: Has anyone ever played that chess variant where one side starts the game with two queens and no pawns, and the other side gets 16 pawns but no queen? Kinda neat. We were fooling around with it the other day. You get some mighty pawn rollers.

Dirk Diggler: 34 pages. no games.

Sep-12-05 Deep Blue vs Kasparov, 1997 (replies)

Dirk Diggler: just feels painful to play over games Kasparov lost to computer. BTW, he has Q againt R and two pieces, shouldn't he have played on a bit, or it really a forgonner that Blue will pimp slap him? the Fengs Steng book is pretty good, got it at the library some time ago.

Dirk Diggler: Does Martina Hingis still have some sort of notoriety in Swit? Or is she forgotten already? Watched a little of the Open, and not one reference to Anna Kournikova--has she finally gone away?

   Sep-12-05 Glicksteen vs E Lawrence, 1971 (replies)

Dirk Diggler: Well, its a Monday puzzle. I looked at the Bishop attack angles for a sec, then realized, there might be a squeeze play on the rook file--why do all the extra work?

Dirk Diggler: Public Enemy--it still holds up well. "She watch channel zero" "Bring the Noise" "Jump" Chuck D, Flavor Flav. It just seemed cool, then. Rap sounded and felt illegal. Maybe thats how rock was in 1967. MC Hammer, good dancer though he be, is the Wayne Newton of rap.

Dirk Diggler: <Chesschatology> Well put! best post I have seen in awhile. Guns kill people, and they ripped our largest cities apart in the 80s and 90s. Then, in the last five years it was time for suburbia kids to kill themselves and each other. U.k. is the model, no guns!

Aug-19-05 Marshall vs Burn, 1900 (replies)

Dirk Diggler: blackBURN would not have been beaten here

   Aug-19-05 Susan Polgar (replies)

Dirk Diggler: Hi Susan, I thought your postal stamp from Yug. was interesting. I think they issued one of Gligoric a few years ago, to celebrate his achievements. I can't remember, but is seems a few years ago, the Icelanders put Fischer on a postage stamp--have you heard at all of chess ...
