   Dec-24-08 A Kosten vs Chandler, 1991 (replies)

DualCore: <zooter: ah, I missed 36.Rf1 covering the check....quite easy and missed this> You, sir, have sparked my imagination... Idea: Back-rank mate the white king using the queen and rook. Unfortunately, the straight forward path fails to 33...gxf2+ 34.Kxf2 Rg2+ 35.Ke1 Qh1+ ...

   Dec-20-08 Seirawan vs A Kuligowski, 1983 (replies)

DualCore: Indeed, fxg6+ appealed greatly to me. In <dzechiel>'s first line, The first I considered, I realized that 38.Qe6+ would be mate, if only e5 were covered; I saw an immediate Re1 for this purpose. Black can't capture with Nxf3, as it leads to a mate in two;gxf5 mates in one. e6

Dec-19-08 Portisch vs Westerinen, 1963 (replies)

DualCore: My first thought: "how can two pawns attack the white king at the same time..." Man, I shouldn't be up this late :P Anyways. Got this one. After I realized which way I was facing.

   Dec-18-08 Buhmann vs B Saeheng, 2008 (replies)

DualCore: awwww, crafty got a different line after ...f6. ah well, I came closer than I thought

   Dec-16-08 R Kempinski vs H Tirard, 1996 (replies)

DualCore: <and at move 30, white can either move the king and lose the queen (for a Q+R vs R+R endgame in favor of black)...> Ha. What an overstatement on my part. No endgame will be played in this game.

   Apr-29-08 V Olexa vs M Ujtelky, 1948 (replies)

DualCore: Took me a few moments, but I finall came up with 25... Rd2 because taking results in a loss, as then bxe4 is fatal for white. White's gotta move the queen and defend the bishop if he wants a shot to continue on... 26.Qf1 fails to 26...Rd1 26.Qe3 leaves black up a minor piece ...

   Apr-28-08 B Rositsan vs A Hervais, 1998 (replies)

DualCore: oh right. 20.Qxe8 Qxe8 21.Bxf7+ Qxf7 22.Rxf7 Kxf7 Heh.

   Apr-27-08 I Ivanov vs Kudrin, 1989 (replies)

DualCore: Holy goodness. Where do I even begin on this one. Lets think abstractly here for a moment. the 7th rank belongs to black. This is generally to his disadvantage on the attacking side, however; the biggest threat he currently has is a bishop attacking a pawn. Black's rooks can't be ...

   Apr-26-08 A Yusupov vs J Nogueiras, 1985 (replies)

DualCore: Rats. I had the same two moves as many here, 14. Rc2 and 14. e6. The one I came up with first was actually 14.e6, in an effort to interfere with the g4 knight's defence. During this line I came up with Rc2. And then I thought about Rc2 as a first move, and considered it a great one

   Apr-23-08 S Andriasyan vs H Dronavalli, 2006 (replies)

DualCore: Alright. First thing I tried playing around with were queen captures. but Qxe4 fails epically to Nd6+, and Qxc4 fails somewhat epically to Bxb7. I looked at Qxd1 for a little while, but after 17... Qxd1 18 Rfxd1 Bxe4 19 Nd6+ And that blasted knight foils our plans once more. ...
