   May-27-05 Anand vs I Sokolov, 1992 (replies)

Durandal: AdrianP: SWIFT was the sponsor of the tournament, the company is a cooperative effort to provide secure financial communications between banks worldwide (SWIFT is the acronym for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, see swift.com), based in La Hulpe, near ...

   Aug-19-04 Bacrot vs Radjabov, 2004

Durandal: There is something deeply funny in a Dutch speaker (Dutch being one of the ugliest language in the world) calling French a "gobbledegook".

   Jul-22-04 Bobby Fischer (replies)

Durandal: On Bill Wall's page on Bobby Fischer http://www.geocities.com/SiliconVal... the following text can be read: <In 1987 the House of Representatives passed House Resolution Bill 545 recognizing Bobby Fischer as the world chess champion> I have looked for a reference of this ...

Durandal: <Swede> and <acirce> the FIDE calculator takes this article from the FIDE handbook into account: <10.23 If he scores more than 50%, then Ru = Rc + 12.5 for each half point scored over 50%. (GA `94)>

   Jul-13-04 Rustam Kasimdzhanov (replies)

Durandal: <ruylopez> he didn't only win the "candidates tournament", Rustam IS the (FIDE) world chess champion now.

Jul-10-04 Kasimdzhanov vs Adams, 2004 (replies)

Durandal: What is your point anyway ? If Rustam is not a top GM, what does that say about Adams ?

Jul-08-04 Adams vs Kasimdzhanov, 2004 (replies)

Durandal: DGT boards are shipped with two extra queens. In case of underpromotion, or if a player needs a 3rd queen, article 6.13.b of the FIDE rules allows the player to stop the clock and ask the assistance of the arbiter. This also applies to rapid and blitz.

Jul-06-04 Adams vs Kasimdzhanov, 2004 (replies)

Durandal: <If Adams wins, the resulting Adams-Kasparov match will get more media coverage and potential "added" sponsorship than any other matchup, mainly due to the fact that Adams is from the UK> mmh. Then the best opponent for Kasparov would have been Bu Xiangzhi , Zhong Zhang or Xu

   Jul-05-04 Michael Adams (replies)

Durandal: <square dance> America got interested in fighting the Nazis when Stalin *demanded* a second front to Roosevelt. And I thought this episode was called "liberation", ie making (half, at least) the continent free. Free, not under another dicatorship.

   Jun-29-04 V Akopian vs Adams, 2004 (replies)

Durandal: I find that most variants given here do not mention move numbers, which makes them especially difficult to follow. Were they typed just after move 16, 18, 21 ? I can only take guesses.
