Elbajacisback: Hi Ray, I noticed you also played in the tournament featured in today's chess puzzle (Sax-Minic) in 1975. Can you recall the venue where the Rovinj stage was played please? I'm just interested as I spent a pleasant week there on holiday in 1982 with my late brother at the ...
   Nov-04-17 Short vs V Kovalev, 2017
Elbajacisback: Nice game, and I notice Nigel is able to play his favourite move (pawn e4 to e5) to finish off his opponent!
   Sep-20-17 Philip Stuart Milner-Barry (replies)
Elbajacisback: Sir Stuart Milner-Barry attended the 2-day Civil Service Chess Finals at York University in 1991 as the guest of honour. My Dad and I both qualified that year, and we spent a wonderful evening with him as he recounted the great players he had played and other stories from his ...
   Jan-28-17 Short vs R Bellin, 2017
Elbajacisback: I feel Robert Bellin's pain in this game. A young Nigel Short also beat me in 1982 with the white pieces in 26 moves without moving his queen.
Oct-22-16 Carlsen vs Karjakin, 2006 (replies)
Elbajacisback: That is one great game by SK, I don't remember playing through it at the time.
   Aug-18-16 R Enjuto vs J Gomez Trigo, 2002 (replies)
Elbajacisback: Why does white not just capture the knight, e.g. 10. Qxg8 I wonder?
   Nov-27-13 L Esterman vs I Friedman, 1963 (replies)
Elbajacisback: Seems to be loads of CG puzzles generated lately from 1963 for some reason?!
   Nov-12-13 I Dai vs M Motycakova, 2012
Elbajacisback: Hi - going back to yesterday's puzzle...anyone know why black did not capture the knight on move 14? E.g. 14...Qxh7. Was it because of a possible draw by repeated check on f6 and h4 I wonder? If so then a brave decision 2 pawns down.

Elbajacisback: A belated Happy Birthday! It really doesn't seem 30 years ago that I watched Jeff outplay Vic Knox with his 'Spanish' bishop in the last round of the Rhyl Open. It would be great to see him play again at Blackpool some time.
Aug-27-12 Adams vs Short, 2011 (replies)
Elbajacisback: Thanks Everett, yes this continuation of yours makes perfect sense & answers my question of a year ago! Apologies for my late reply - I've just re-registered with and hopefully will get more time to visit this excellent website.
