   Sep-28-25 Alekhine's Defense (B03) (replies)

Freelance Assassin: The video has 4. c4, which prevents 4... dxe5 and 4... Bg4, unlike in the Azarov-Yoo game where White doesn't play 4. c4 and therefore gives Black the option of 4... dxe5 or 4... Bg4. I thought I should point this out since it does make a difference despite the game ...

   Sep-24-25 K Nemcova vs D Sade, 2018 (replies)

Freelance Assassin: <goodevans> So it's basically unsound swashbuckler-wannabe moves made in hope that their opponent can't find the proper replies.

   Sep-21-25 Bird vs J Lord, 1869

Freelance Assassin: Do you think 42. Rxf6 deserves three question marks?

   Sep-19-25 Aron Nimzowitsch

Freelance Assassin: There is also the book "Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy: Advances Since Nimzowitsch" by John Watson.

Sep-19-25 Bird / Lee vs Cook / Mason, 1889 (replies)

Freelance Assassin: <stone free or die> Yes, I was referring to CG's, not Renette's. I didn't know know that was what you meant, so I deleted my earlier post after I posted my last one.

   Sep-18-25 Mark Taimanov

Freelance Assassin: Any parent here thinking of getting your kid to become both a concert pianist and a world-class chess GM like Taimanov?

Sep-16-25 FIDE Grand Swiss (2025) (replies)

Freelance Assassin: <Well, I will probably be supporting Bluebaum. It's time we had a World Champion with a colour in his name!> But wouldn't you also prefer your World Champion to be at least ranked in the top 30?

   Sep-15-25 Dommaraju Gukesh (replies)

Freelance Assassin: Gukesh is now a World Champion who dropped out of top 10.

Sep-10-25 Cochrane vs Staunton, 1843 (replies)

Freelance Assassin: <Honza Cervenka> That may be so, but it doesn't explain why Black allowed Qe5 by playing ... Ne7. Also, ... Qxd5 seems forced. ... a6/... Qd6 leads to Rxf8+! and Black is dead.

   Sep-07-25 Kenneth Rogoff (replies)

Freelance Assassin: Rogoff went from a high school dropout to a tenured Harvard economics professor—that's some righteous stuff, man. Respect.
