GregM: <Check It Out>If you like unusual tactical games, Albin Planinc is worth checking out. His best games are pure genius, but he also lost quite a few with overly optimistic sacrifices.

   Jun-09-25 Kasparov vs D Letterman, 1989

GregM: To be honest, surviving 23 moves and finishing with material equality is better than I would have expected from Letterman.

   Jan-26-24 Tal vs E Gonzales, 1972

GregM: After 15...e5 16 Qf6 Rg8, I think we'd have seen a spectacular victory by Tal if black hadn't resigned.

   Oct-02-23 H Wegner vs S Johnsen, 1991 (replies)

GregM: According to Tim Krabbe, this game also has the record for most moves by a pawn, with the h2 pawn moving 108 times (mostly as a queen, of course). https://timkr.home.xs4all.nl/record...

   Oct-02-23 Sax vs H Urday, 1992 (replies)

GregM: It looks like a typo. 25. Nc6 is a crushing move but Nc7 would have been a blunder.
