Originally from Rochester NY, my parents were Cold War immigrants from Eastern Europe. Since it is so big in that part of the world, I learned Chess at an early age.

I am interested in the idiosynchracies of Chess, and disdain the movement to reduce it to formulas and algorithms. I study rare openings and their peculiar names; I have assembled a few collections that cover the most notable lines.

Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (ECO=B,C)

Game Collection: Unorthodox Games; Unusual Names (ECO=A,D,E)

Well, there's also the puns. I try not to take things too seriously. It is just a game.

   Oct-13-20 T Pipan vs W So, 2003
GumboGambit: Although he was young, Wes did not Pipan his Pampers
   Mar-14-19 Erik Juhl
GumboGambit: From loking at the games, I suppose <d3, e4, f3, Nh3, Qe2> can be called the Juhl System.
   Mar-14-19 J I Gal vs T Menyhart, 1993
GumboGambit: Im sure we all know a Gal that could warm Menyhart.
   Mar-14-19 T Menyhart vs Peter Donka, 1999

   Mar-14-19 T Menyhart vs Z Nemes, 1999
GumboGambit: I prefer to thnk that Black played 1...h5 to help prevent Fools Mate. Such an altruist!
   Mar-14-19 Carlos Jose Bet
GumboGambit: "Always Bet on Black"
   Mar-14-19 Robert E Byrne vs D Byrne, 1958
GumboGambit: "Byrne, Baby, Byrne"
   Feb-28-19 K de Heer vs H Kloos, 1851
GumboGambit: Hermanus kept it Kloos for a while, but in the end, was out Klaased Heer.
   Feb-28-19 S Shankland vs G Singh, 2015 (replies)
GumboGambit: I take it Singh couldn't afford the Millionaire Chess buyin?
   Feb-28-19 J Zawadzka vs A Lach, 2011
GumboGambit: This game seems to prove that the Sicilian is a drawish opening. ;)
