Haeron: I just played this game on Playchess. Don't take on d4 in the Steinitz! [Event "Playchess"] [Site "Watford"] [Date "2007.02.15"] [Round "?"] [White "Haeron"] [Black "Guest"] [Result "1-0"] [ECO "C62"] [PlyCount "43"] 1. Nf3 Nc6 2. e4 e5 3. Bb5 d6 4. d4 exd4 ...

Feb-15-07 Shulman vs The World, 2007 (replies)

Haeron: Voting Nxd7. It's natural and strong. We're counterattacking in the center and getting pieces out. It's all good.

Haeron: I despise this opening with every fibre of my being. It's just so very slow and drawish. I've played the Evans Gambit a few times (unsuccessfully, I might add) but that was the only reason I played 3.Bc4. Now I usually just play 1.c4 because the Ruy is not my forte. I heard a quote ...

Haeron: I had a very strange idea in the Fischer Defence once. It went 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 d6 4.b3!? with the idea of stopping the g-pawn push. It looks bad to me, but I'm not exactly sure.

Haeron: 13... Nd5 has been proved wrong. exd5 is correct, according to theory.

   Jan-16-07 French Defense (C00) (replies)

Haeron: Played this game for my chess club recently, me as black. I made a few mistakes, but it's a good example of the e6-weakness, although I won. [Event "Watford 6 vs. Hemel"] [Site "Watford"] [Date "2007.01.16"] [White "Rouiller, Ken"] [Black "Slater-Walker, George"] ...

Jan-11-07 Rubinstein vs Janowski, 1925 (replies)

Haeron: Argh. Got it up to Qg6+. Somehow missed the bishop-queen interplay, despite seeing that black is unable to take the h7 bishop. :P

   Jan-06-07 A Nimzowitsch vs Alapin, 1914 (replies)

Haeron: Erm, <syracrophy>, 14... Be6 15. Qd7#

Jan-03-07 Anand vs Svidler, 1998 (replies)

Haeron: If black plays 7. ...de5, then White goes 8. Be4! 8. ...Rb8 (Ra7?? loses the rook to 9. de5!) 9. de5, and Black doesn't want to take with either piece- the bishop has strategic power and protects the dark squares on black's kingside and taking with the knight allows 10. Qxd8 Kx d8, ...

Jan-03-07 Shirov vs Anand, 1998 (replies)

Haeron: The dancing rooks are amazing! And by the way, 43. ...R5e7 shouldn't have a + on it.
