An Ethnomusicologist from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Have lived in India for 14 years where I learned chess at the West Bengal Chess Association. While at Queen's University of Belfast I played for my University team. We won the Northern Ireland Championship two years in a row. Have had the opportunity to play several GMs including Kevin Spragett and Dipendu Baura (India). Still learning :)

Nov-18-18 Carlsen vs Caruana, 2018 (replies)
JASAHA: Seems that in the last sequence of moves white aims to recapture the c Pawn in a circumstance of slight positional advantage; ie play good chess!

JASAHA: Frodo: Pity he didn't spare the rook Gandolf: It was pity that made him take the rook.

JASAHA: I think in some time zone it's already Monday. Hardly "insane" .
   Mar-16-17 A Gupta vs R Praggnanandhaa, 2016 (replies)
JASAHA: I gather that Bxc3 also works, just takes an hr longer. :)
   Feb-25-17 Bacrot vs I Lysyj, 2009 (replies)
JASAHA: Yes I agree with the computer intuitively. The capture on f7 is not Winning! Black had to return material.

JASAHA: Re: Wesley So I think it's his calm disposition that has helped his rise to the top. He seems to get the best out of positions and at the same time respects his opponent's capabilities. No matter what his result here (which looks very promising) he has demonstrated that he has the
   Jan-22-17 R Rapport vs Carlsen, 2017 (replies)
JASAHA: "Wild-Thing" Rapport also had So in the hook. This time around he didn't play throw-back.
