Apr-01-15 Steinitz vs Chigorin, 1892 (replies)

Ladyanavt: This game apears in Reti's classic "Modern Ideas in Chess"

Mar-27-15 Deep Blue vs Kasparov, 1996 (replies)

Ladyanavt: Is promotion to a knight a good idea long term? The fork at promotion is good but doesn't the knight quickly become trapped and the queen is lost anyway?

Mar-27-15 Deep Blue vs Kasparov, 1996 (replies)

Ladyanavt: Deep blue was said to have been programmed by a team of chess experts. Perhaps they chose the openings to be considered. It's also possible that deep blue was fed some of Kasparov's previous games, say with the alapin sicilian and other possible openings that may arise.

   Mar-21-15 A Nimzowitsch vs Swiderski, 1907

Ladyanavt: The position around moves 11-12 is amusing. Diagonal loaded with pieces.

   Mar-21-15 S Boden vs J Owen, 1858

Ladyanavt: Some unexpected turns. Queen sac to force a pawn promotion and bxa8!

Mar-20-15 Chigorin vs Schiffers, 1880 (replies)

Ladyanavt: Queen exchange for a rook by black was poorly thought out.

   Mar-20-15 Petrosian vs E Chukaev, 1951 (replies)

Ladyanavt: <CapablancaFan> its because he doesn't castle that his rook is in position to start the K-side attach after the h4 pawn push.

   Mar-19-15 Petrosian vs V Lyublinsky, 1949 (replies)

Ladyanavt: <beatgiant> No I didn't. Thanks I'll take a look at that page before posting questions.

Mar-19-15 Morphy vs Bird, 1859 (replies)

Ladyanavt: Love how Morphy tempts Bird to simplify by lining up his knights on the edge of the board.

   Mar-19-15 Fischer vs J L Garcia Bachiller, 1970 (replies)

Ladyanavt: I like the walls of pieces on the kingside. Gives the impression of an impenetrable fortress.
