LeilaDog: He gets the e5 pawn. But yeah, I guess it is a bit depressing for him. Probably better to write it off than spend another hour or so dragging out his inexorable defeat.

LeilaDog: Yes, O-O-O looked odd. White always looked like it would win the pawn race. And surely the not-too-subtle line up of the rooks gives you a clue as to where the danger might come from. (I have a general view that castling on opposite sides can give the weaker player more of a chance

LeilaDog: Easy to say in hindsight of course, but perhaps 13.. e6 was the beginning of the end as Black's centre became less and less sustainable. Perhaps instead one has to get rid of the horse on c3 with b4. This makes e4 a proper target after e6.

LeilaDog: Very interesting <patzer2>. Perhaps, to avoid that rxh2 horribleness, white needs to dance its queen out of the exchange, e.g. 9.. Qg4 Nf6 10.. Qg5 Bxf4+ 11.. Qxf4 Your Vakulenko chap nearly tried this, but managed to dance her into death. I have to say however that ...

LeilaDog: Nothing, I think, gofer. Indeed, 16..Bb5 looks good to me. Be8 did look rather passive. Also, just agreeing with TheBish's analysis above. I think however white can just about cling onto a draw even with the pawn down, but its moves have to be immaculate.
