Pennypacker: Berg also won the Politiken Blitz tourney. There's some nice videos from the semi and the final here: http://ksu.dk/politiken_cup/default...

Pennypacker: This kid is flying under the radar a bit. Today he beat Sokolov (2669) in a nice game. And at the young age of 15-16 he's a name for the future me thinks. http://www.sigeman-chess.com/defaul...

   Mar-10-09 P H Nielsen vs T Hillarp Persson, 1998 (replies)

Pennypacker: I stumbled upon this game when reading Rowson's "The seven deadly chess sins". 16...Bf5!!! One heck of a move. Bad a** game from Tiger.

Pennypacker: Don't know if this has been posted here before but there's some nice videos from Gjövik on the Chess FM blogg. https://webcast.chessclub.com/blog/... https://webcast.chessclub.com/blog/... Not sure if you have to be an ICC-member to be able to watch it?!

Nov-24-08 Euwe vs Kotov, 1953 (replies)

Pennypacker: Hmmm, interesting game. It appears that 20...Rxe3 is sound but black went wrong on move 23 when he should've played 23...Bxe3 forcing white to move his rook and then he could play 24...c4. White can in turn give back the exchange with 24.Qxa6 but I don't care much for whites ...

Pennypacker: If he can do something about his poor time management then I think he climb the rating charts and be a 2600 player in a not so distant future.

Nov-04-07 European Team Championship (2007) (replies)

Pennypacker: It's a trade off. For the loss of the bishop pair he gets a firmer grip in the center and open up lines against the enemy king. If it's a good thing? I have no idea. ;-)

   Oct-05-07 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

Pennypacker: And as a comp cheater he won't use that trick again?? Hmmm.

   Jun-11-07 Serper vs I Nikolaidis, 1993 (replies)

Pennypacker: I'm reading Watsons "Chess strategy in action" right now and came upon this beauty. What a game!

   Apr-30-07 K Lerner vs Tal, 1983 (replies)

Pennypacker: I was looking at the line: 39...f5 40.Nc4 Rf6 41.Nxa5 Qa8!? (keeping the pin) 42.Nc4 f4 43.gxf4 exf4 44.Qf3 Re6 45.e5 Qxf3+ 46.Kxf3 Bxe5 47.Nxe5 Rxe5 Black is a pawn up but the endgame is drawn. Whites a-pawn makes sure of that.
