I was a guest in Manhattan Neighborhood Network Chess Now Episode 38 (check it out in You Tube). 1400 Amateur Player. My favorite players are Kasparov and Karpov.

PierreMontz: Good chess players are always lucky.

   Jun-19-12 Karpov vs E Torre, 1976 (replies)

PierreMontz: I agree with Travis, I guess what Bobby was really afraid of was his name, as Karpov himself said in the interview when he became World champion after the forfeit. Bobby could have beaten Karpov if not for his ego.

Mar-10-12 Kramnik vs Carlsen, 2011 (replies)

PierreMontz: Just watching Daniel King's Greek Gift and lawn mower mates and I thought this would have been the latest perfect example, I think Black could have defended from it if he didn't do the dubious 13..Ne8 but 13..Be7. I know he prepared it from that Karpov game above, but I noticed ...

Mar-10-12 Einstein vs Oppenheimer, 1933 (replies)

PierreMontz: The game is like an exploding atomic bomb! You see how all of Black's pieces vanished? I think it's an authentic game between these two Physicists, and even though Einstein was not directly involved in the Manhattan Project, Oppy might have gotten the major ideas from him, since

Oct-19-11 Ivanchuk vs So, 2009 (replies)

PierreMontz: Mabuhay kabayan!!! Tayong mga Pinoy ay hindi nila matatalo sa talino, naku malalim na to.

Oct-19-11 So vs Shirov, 2011 (replies)

PierreMontz: 21. Rff1! is blockade otherwise White would have weak light squares, and then the struggle for the open file becomes easy for the rooks. After that White has extra tempo when he has his rook at the back rank, then after exchanging queens which Black was banking on the flank ...

   Oct-18-11 Bareev vs E Sevillano, 2009

PierreMontz: Wow! A great game by my own countryman beating a great grandmaster by his calculations! Hooray!

May-17-11 Gelfand vs Kamsky, 2011 (replies)

PierreMontz: I think the losing move is 11...g4?! It was an early pawn storm with not much major pieces at the back ground. Better was the plan Ne7-g6.

Jan-04-09 Kasparov vs Karpov, 2002 (replies)

PierreMontz: Garry shouldn't have given up the a2 pawn so easily in 37.Rc2?! instead he could have played 37.g4! attacking the knight to gain tempo and when it retreats to 37...Ne7 (the only square for counterplay) then 38.Qd7 with the following line of play 38...Nxc6 39.Qxe8 Qe6 40.Qa8 Qd6+
