Jan-18-17 Mason vs Chigorin, 1883   RonW: A very nice touch with 53.a5! and 55.KC5! in the pawn ending. Unfortunately, Mason actually erred by liquidating into the pawn ending with 44.Rxf8+(?) when 44.Ra8 would have been a techical win in a few more moves....      Nov-24-16 Paulsen vs R Beuthner, 1863   RonW: Black resigned a drawn Rook Ending. Paulsen's 46.Rd8+ was a mistake. Correct was keeping both Rooks on the board for mating threats against the black King - 46.b5! Rb2 47.Rab7 Rb1+ 48.Ke2 Rb2+ 49.Ke3 Rff2 50.Rg7+ Kf8 51.Rxh7 .      Nov-13-16 Karjakin vs Carlsen, 2013   RonW: A truly brilliant game by Carlsen. Two nice variations in the final position - a)43...Qc7! 44.Rg3 h4 45.Rxc3 Re1+!! 46.Rxc7 Rh1 mate. b) 43...Qc7! 44.Qf4 Re2+! 45.Kg3 g5!! 46.Qxc7 h4 mate!      Dec-27-15 Alekhine vs Lasker, 1914    RonW: In the technical phase, Lasker was superb, but he overplayed his hand with 30...Nax4 de-centralizing his knight....Also - 27...a4!? 28.Nf2 axb3 29.Rxb3 Ne5 was a more prudent path than the one chosen by the good doctor :)
