   Apr-18-09 S Levitsky vs Marshall, 1912 (replies)

The Bloop: In Alekine's game (referenced by whiteshark), the f-pawn was pinned by the Bishop on c4, so the effect was not exactly the same as Marshall's move, although Alekhine had a great finish to that game as well. Alekhine vs NN, 1911

   Oct-03-06 Judit Polgar (replies)

The Bloop: <BishopBerkeley: Happy Birthday, Judit (a bit late!)!! Nice photos at Chessbase of Judit and her family: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail ... New baby Hanna is there (nice picture), and son Oliver appears to be snacking on a Rook! Very nice indeed. (: B Bishop Berkeley B ...

   Feb-12-06 J Polgar vs Macieja, 2002 (replies)

The Bloop: This position of the game is described in John Nunn's "Learn Chess Tactics". It's the first example described in his "Forks" chapter. Nunn points out that "...even this elementary case reveals an important psychological point. A fork is easier to overlook if there is something a ...

   Jan-30-06 Jose Raul Capablanca (replies)

The Bloop: <CowardlyKnight andTheRedHeadedLeague> Re: Capa's wife, Olga, died in the mid-1990s, according to Edward Winter in "Kings, Commoners and Knaves". In this book, he describes a letter he received from Olga in which she offered a hand-written (by Capa himself) score of a game ...

   Jan-16-06 square dance chessforum (replies)

The Bloop: <square dance> <yes. and when shaq was at his best for those three years he was probably as good as any player in NBA history. my problem with shaq being ranked number one is that he didnt do it for long enough. three years at the top is just not enough imo. especially ...

   Sep-28-05 J Polgar vs Anand, 2005 (replies)

The Bloop: I'm following the game with Pocket Fritz... PF says Anand needed to play 18... g6. Any other move (he played f6, scored as 4th best move by PF) gives a slight advantage to White (g6 was scored at -0.20, other moves scored at +0.09 or better for White).

   Sep-16-05 Bobby Fischer (replies)

The Bloop: Plus, Fischer would have been real, real annoyed if he lost to Karpov

   Aug-01-05 Susan Polgar (replies)

The Bloop: Susan did a lot of physical training to get ready for this...seems like a couple of months ago (don't know what kibitz page that would be) she said she was running 2 miles or 5 miles a day, or something like that. Anyway, I'm sure she's in fantastic condition...she knows better ...

   May-18-05 Frank Marshall (replies)

The Bloop: <iron maiden> Some versions of the story say he saved the idea up for ten years, but it's always seemed like a gross exaggeration to me. Could very well have been an exaggeration ... I've read probably 3 or 4 books that used a figure of approx 10 years, but there is ...

   May-15-05 Joshua Waitzkin (replies)

The Bloop: <the Bloop> it was a great move... I meant to say, it was a great MOVIE.
