   Jan-16-09 Bareev vs V Akopian, 2000 (replies)

TheCap: <patzer2><TheCap> Perhaps the difficult part is visualizing ahead the quick shift from one set of double threats to another in two successive Queen moves (i.e. 69...Qd7!! 70. Qf2 Qd1! ). Also seeing that the tempting 69...Qb7 fails to 70. Re5! is not so easy I think you ...

Jan-15-09 Anand vs Morovic Fernandez, 1990 (replies)

TheCap: At first glance I thought white's challenge would be to draw! It is amazing how strong pawns become once they have walked close to the line of conversion ! Well done Anand... Naturally I investigated Qc6 and that's why I will stay a Park-Player...

   Jan-09-09 P H Nielsen vs Larsen, 1997 (replies)

TheCap: i HAD A DIFFERENT STRATEGY. 23.... e5 24.Nb2 e4 25.Qe2 exf3 26.Bf1 Qh1+ 27.Kf2 Qh2+ And then trying to get the either the passed pawn through or get a mate combo, which I did not analyse in more detail, because my brain gave in. However I thought the position had ...

   Jan-01-09 D Volpinari vs M Alice, 2008 (replies)

TheCap: Oh dear, oh dear, I got the correct move, but for the wrong reason...I should really give up playing...

   Dec-31-08 Rajkovic vs M O Jovanovic, 2008 (replies)

TheCap: Rule 101 for sacs: if a better player offers a sac: think twice, think three times before taking it. (Sometimes the better player may have overlooked a sort of Zwischenzug...) Anyway Happy New Year to everybody from down under where the New Year is already 11hours old....

   Dec-30-08 N Lisicic vs D Arsic, 2008 (replies)

TheCap: why should I mate in 2 if I can mate in 5? Because mating is beautiful....

Dec-26-08 Epishin vs Gheorghiu, 1993 (replies)

TheCap: I thought white would not allow time loss and therefore play: RxR first and then after QxR Rh1 check the queen. Then Nxe5. f6 has to follow. from then on I thought a pawn up would do, but the game line seems OK

   Dec-25-08 R Pereira vs F Schellmann, 2008 (replies)

TheCap: Kxg7 ????

Dec-24-08 Kosten vs Chandler, 1991 (replies)

TheCap: I had RxR which I thought leads to a quicker ending....

   Dec-23-08 E Cekro vs L Patriarca, 2008 (replies)

TheCap: What about 70. Bhxh6 and then ... Rxh8. Then white has to take with the queen then black can play Qf7 and then try to advance its pawns (eg e-pawn sacrifice to get the d-pawn passed)and things do not look so clear to me... Anyway it is Xmas soon and I wish you all very well
