Timmer: Black can prevent mate by doing 11. Bg5+ Ke6 instead. This could lead to the following exchange: 12. Nc6+ Kf5 13. Nxd8 Kxg5 14. Nxf7+ Kf6 15. Nxh8 Be2. This would leave white without a decisive advantage. Other variations on this move also inhibit a quick mate for white.
