Velmirovic: <saffuna> <perfidious> The type of weapon is almost irrelevant. These "people" have declared war on the heterosexual and religious sects. Try being transgender in China, India, the Arab world, Africa, etc. Most of the world rejects this filth. BigPawn was right about ...

   Mar-28-23 H Bosscher vs L Smit, 1980

Velmirovic: The only time I think you can move the f-pawn is in Dutch and Nimzowitsch defense: 1. e4 Nc6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 f6. Any other examples?

   Mar-28-23 Reshevsky vs Westerinen, 1989

Velmirovic: Wow. 14. exd4? is bad because Black recaptures with the e-pawn and then plays 15... Rxf2. Not only is it full compensation, it's almost winning already.

   Mar-28-23 J Peters vs Lombardy, 1977 (replies)

Velmirovic: This might've worked in 1977, but afterwards, John Watson discovered that 14...c5 is at least equal for Black. Excellent performance by Peters, though. Legendary IM.

   Mar-28-23 A Planinc vs V Kovacevic, 1972 (replies)

Velmirovic: 19. Rc5 is curtains. Alarm bells should have been ringing with Black's king opposite White's dark-square bishop.

   Mar-27-23 Tal vs H Hecht, 1962

Velmirovic: Great game- 21. Bf5 is brilliant! Three pieces en prise, a bishop for a queen down.

   Mar-27-23 Gulko vs Korchnoi, 1989

Velmirovic: Didn't Korchnoi say in post-game analysis he would never play the Bd7-Bc6 idea as Black in the Catalan? Probably 5... c5 is better.

   Mar-27-23 J Zhao vs D Xiu, 2011

Velmirovic: 15... Ne8 had to be tried, but White will just go 16. h4. Certainly after 19. Rf6 there is no adequate defense, besides surrendering untold amounts of material.

Mar-27-23 Dlugy vs Alburt, 1991 (replies)

Velmirovic: How could anyone play this comfortably with Black, especially after move 14? Alburt was the best in the States at one point, and he faltered quickly.

Mar-27-23 Schlechter vs Vidmar, 1917 (replies)

Velmirovic: Very easy- 39. Ra6 forces a pawn promotion. However, Schlecter's opening seemed pretty sterile- not sure there's much advantage for White after conceding the bishop pair.
