Nov-13-05 O Borik vs C Renner, 1999

Zembla: <cade>I put all the "first" people on my ignore list. They are too annoying. |

Zembla: <offramp> Who is Pat Healy? |

Dec-22-04 P Bilguer vs Von der Lasa, 1839
|
Zembla: Great game. Is this the Scotch Gambit? |

Dec-18-04 Morphy vs W Budzinski, 1859
|
Zembla: An exciting game nonetheless. Morphy sacrifices the exchange, then a B for 2 pawns & still keeps the draw in hand. A stylish way to finish too, giving # while his Q is pinned to his K. |

Dec-18-04 Morphy vs J L Preti, 1858
|
Zembla: An enjoyable game. I liked Morphy's Q trap with 13.e5, even though black didn't bite. |

Dec-17-04 Anderssen vs Morphy, 1858
|
Zembla: <sneaky pete>Thanks for putting this game into better focus for me. As to Anderssen's awkward 10th move, I didn't like it when I saw it but never thought one would have to go that far back to find game saving moves for him. |

Dec-16-04 S Boden vs Morphy, 1858
|
Zembla: I liked all the analysis centered around the refutation of 22.Re4. However I saw other parts of the game differently. I think Boden's sacrificial plans started with move 15 when he left his B to be captured. Morphy's 15...d5 was a good move to free his game. Boden didn't anticipate ... |

Dec-15-04 T Barnes vs Morphy, 1858
|
Zembla: Shibut also gives the gamescore given by Lowenthal & Sergeant, but he probably got it from them. It does make more sense though.
My favorite move of this game of many good moves: 15...Bxe6! Who can blame Barnes for not suspecting it was a Q trap? |

Dec-15-04 H Kennicott vs Morphy, 1857
|
Zembla: I guess Kennicott didn't anticipate Morphy exchanging Q's to instantly transpose to a very favorable (almost) endgame. Till then white looked OK positionally. |

Dec-14-04 Morphy vs de Riviere, 1863
|
Zembla: <raydot> I'm not sure I fully see your point, but it is an interesting comparison. BTW, great Tal game! I like the way he was determined to have his knight fork at the end.
Shibut's book is pretty good, isn't it? |
