   Jun-08-06 J A Curdo vs V Frenklakh, 1993 (replies)
Zplane: I saw Ba3 (to attack the black rook) as the move I would do in a game but figured since it was the puzzle they would go with the rook sac on f7. Problem is I didn't see the combination of the two. On another point ... In studying the various versions of chess openings I see the ...

Zplane: <ganstaman> The black queen is won because it is on F6 after taking the pawn. The rook goes to H7 forcing the king to give up defense of the queen.

Zplane: I appreciate having this database of games to review and these daily puzzles. (Sometimes I even appreciate the comments made on the games) Thanks for the work picking out these puzzles for our enjoyment/education.

Zplane: After yesterdays puzzle I spent my first 3 seconds making sure my defensive position was secure. After this the answer to the puzzle became obvious. I thought yesterdays puzzle was excellent and instructive. Make sure your own house is in order before you begin dismantling anothers!
   Apr-06-06 Tolush vs V Mikenas, 1950 (replies)
Zplane: I missed the perpetual check and went for the d8=Q. I should have suspected it was wrong as it was very easy for a Thursday.
   Apr-05-06 L Bruzon Batista vs L Dominguez, 2004 (replies)
Zplane: On move 33 why doesn't white take the d6 pawn with either rook? Two passed pawns on c and b would have to be an easy win.
   Apr-04-06 Delchev vs B Chatalbashev, 2001 (replies)
Zplane: What a slaughter! Whites 14th move landlocks it's B and appears to be a major blunder. Interesting end game. You would think white should have pushed it's pawn forcing the bishop sac but it seems it never had a chance.
