I am a patzer. My rating is in the range 1700 - 1800 (on a good day I can beat a 1900 player, but I can also lose to a 1400 one :)

PS On a side note, I seem to always do much better when I watch a tournament (and the "effect" usually stays for a few weeks afterwards). Is that true for you?

badest: <PhilFeeley: <jphamlore> According to chess-results.com, he lost 1.9 points. I don't know whether this keeps him in a candidate position or not.> I wish more of the top 10 played open tournaments. This was a fun event to watch.

badest: I agree too ... the Candidates may well be "harder" than the WC-match. It was that way for Carlsen at least.

badest: <Kinghunt: There's no question that Norway has money. But all that money belongs to people/institutions, and convincing any of them to give it to chess is an altogether different matter. If you have surefire ways to get even really rich people to donate a million dollars, please ...

badest: <MissScarlett> Money talks (and chess players need to eat too). In any case, I prefer Kirsan over Kasparov.

Aug-19-14 Kramnik vs Topalov, 2014 (replies)

badest: <MissScarlett: Four games, four wins with white, honours even, since the resumption of hostilities this year.> Indeed. All highly entertaining games. Lol ... every time these guys meet it's like gunfight at the O.K. Corral ;)

badest: <devere: ... and is the reason why Topalov is widely despised by many of his fellow chess players, not just Kramnik.> LOL ... man are you a drama-queen.

badest: <Rolfo: <..But the good news in that in one month he will be very ok and totally ready for Olympiad. He also joked that Armenian team is always super. When asked about competitors he said; well russians may pose little problems:) but it is inessential:)> The Armenian team is
