Nov-17-15 Carlsen vs Pelletier, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: Even Carlsen's blunders are interesting. Carlsen is willing to grab material if after calculating out the variations he believes his opponent doesn't have enough counterplay as compensation. Unfortunately he has been overlooking some moves when he visualizes these variations.

   Oct-08-15 E Inarkiev vs Morozevich, 2015

cornflake: Morozevich doesn't seen to be in good form for this tournament.

Jul-21-15 Adams vs Navara, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: <Jul-21-15 Al2009: How boring! Contrary Bishops...> I thought this was a nice positional/ technical win by Adams [DIAGRAM] "Contrary" bishops? yes if you mean opposite color bishops. Boring? I suppose it is if you don't like exploiting a positional advantage- Namely, that ...

Jul-19-15 Gelfand vs Ding Liren, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: <supertimchan: Quick look without a computer: is 37.g5 a mistake? It looks like Black gains a better centre after 37...c4.> [DIAGRAM] I imagine Gelfand played 37 g5 to try to stir up some attacking chances on the kingside. There's clearly no plan for White on the queenside. ...

Jul-05-15 Wei Yi vs L Bruzon Batista, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: I'm impressed. There are really a lot of great chess players coming from China these days.

Jul-01-15 So vs Naiditsch, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: <Imran Iskandar: 21. Ra1? was a very weird move to say the least. I mean, why would So 'undevelop' his rook? He probably had his reasons but it just was a nonsensical move to play in my opinion.> I would guess the reason is that black was threatening 21...RxRc1 22. Rxc1 (or ...

Jun-28-15 Nisipeanu vs So, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: White's opening play -beginning with perhaps 9.f5- looks a like home preparation variation.

   Jun-26-15 Norway Chess (2015) (replies)

cornflake: < diceman: <1850Patzer: Wow, 19 games in 1 tournament? That would take a month now a days> The Palma 70 Interzonal Fischer won on the way to the world championship was 23 rounds.> Fischer was a chess machine in 1970. No one could stop him then.

Jun-22-15 Grischuk vs Topalov, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: On a side note - some of the chess engine evaluations about this game were ridiculous

   Jun-21-15 J L Hammer vs Topalov, 2015 (replies)

cornflake: <Tomlinsky: Topalov should get online and buy a few Euro Lottery tickets asap.> Well Topa certainly has been getting some gift points from the other players. First the game from Carlsen when he had a lost position, and now this game when he had a dead drawn postion.
