I currently live in Worcester, New York. USCF rating 1843. Any analysis I give will be done without the aid of a chess engine, so please cut me some slack.

In my opinion, today's GM's are stronger than those in the past, but ONLY because they have the benefit of analyzing years and years of chess theory.

I am not at all concerned with my rating, so I like to try different things when I play. Sometimes I play uncommon openings just to see what happens, and as a result, I lose more often that not.

duckets: Does anyone have a collection of games where GM's blunder away an obvious win in the endgame? Perhaps a few examples of such might help support panigma's position. In my experience, however, if a GM were to screw up, it would not be at a point in the game where material and position

duckets: I live in the Northeast, and have been to Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park dozens of times each. I have to admit, I was awestruck by Wrigley when I was in Chicago a couple of years ago. The best part is watching the relief pitchers jump out of the way of line drive foul balls as they ...

duckets: Pardon me, you are correct. I am relatively new to this site, and I am not yet familiar with the Opening Explorer. I did not realize that chessgames.com had differentiated the Queen's Gambit Declined openings as such. My apologies. Maybe next time I will try to do a little research ...

duckets: Karl Gilg actually has a pretty big following in my local club. I have personally not examined his games, but admirers claim that he often played down a piece instead of resigning as seems to be the norm nowadays, and patiently waited for a blunder from his opponent.
