Jun-02-08 A Hansen vs S Jensen, 1945
|
firstagainst: <Alphastar> I agree (with the first part of your post, anyway). In fact, I had written as much in my first post. But then I'm not as good at chess as Rybka! It's an explanation for why it wasn't worse for White than -2.05 that I was seeking. |

firstagainst: Can anyone explain 17...Bxf3? Black seems in control but it all seems to fall apart pretty quickly after that. |

May-19-08 Lagno vs N Malmdin, 2007

firstagainst: Perhaps it's silly to question an obvious win, but 27.Nxe6 (already mentioned by <al wazir> seems just as emphatic: 27...Bxe6 (27...fxe6 is no better)
28.Bxe6 fxe6
29.Qxh5

27...Qxe5
28.Nxf8 Kxf8
29.Qd8+ Kg7 (or Qe8)

May-12-08 R Grau vs V Fernandez Coria, 1924
|
firstagainst: Okay, I am wrong:
26. ... Nxd3
27. Qc2 Nxf4
28. gxf4
(I missed 28. Nxf4 Qg3)
and it's still only rook for knight and pawn but White's position looks horrible. At the very least, Black will recover the pawn soon. Does anyone have an improvement on 27.Qc2? |

Apr-25-08 Taimanov vs G Lisitsin, 1949
|
firstagainst: <TheCap>, <znprdx>. Probably I'm missing something but 25...Rb8 seems to fail after 26.Nc6 Qxb7 (26...Rxb7 27.Nxe7+ Rxe7 28.Qb8) 27.Nxb8 Qxb3 28.Rxb3 As a puzzle, I feel I should have got it, but OTB, what was White thinking at move 24? "Now if I can just get the ... |

Apr-07-08 Albin vs O Bernstein, 1904
|
firstagainst: Hello all (my first post...).
Have to admit I forgot about evaluating the position. Seeing the predicament of the White king, looked for a Black knight to deliver smothered mate, and when there wasn't one, looked at the g-file. So I got to the answer quicker than I might if ... |
