May-13-08 W Schmidt vs J Augustin, 1976
|
fragile: <Zooter>, its good if you see the right line first. What I meant was that I sometimes think out a line which I finally figure leads to nowhere and then try taking another line but in the middle always I get pulled into thinking the prior line. For example, in todays puzzle my ... |

Jan-28-08 R Shirley Jr vs B Wall, 1982
|
fragile: Sigh! Lost this one totally.
Spent sometime considering...
10...Bxf4 11 Rxf4 Nh5 12 Bxh5 Qxg5 forking the Rook and B. But then 12 Re4 puts a stop to all that and gains the queen. At that point I gave up and looked at the solution. Qe3+ simply didn't show up in my horizon at all. |

Mar-15-07 J Piket vs Kramnik, 1999

Jun-29-06 Van Wely vs Morozevich, 2001
|
fragile: 16.Nxg2 Nicely declined by white
<Counterpoint>, 16.Nxg2?? Nf3+! 17.Ke2 Qd3 is refuted by 18 kxf3
The right line I think is:
16.Nxg2?? Nf3+! 17.Ke2 bd3+ (18.kxf3 Qh3+ 19.kf4 Bh6#) 18.kd1 Bc4+ and takes the queen. |

Jun-28-06 S Nyysti vs O Sisatto, 2002
|
fragile: <filipecea>, I think its lost for white if he picks up the bishop offered as bait. Play might proceed this way: 18.hxg3 e5 19.Bh3 Rh6 20.d4 Rxh3+ 21.Kg2 Rxg3+ 22.Kh2 Rh3+ 23.Kg2 Qg5+ 24.Kf2 Rh2+ 25.Ke1 Qc1# I've not checked out all combinations either. |
